Volkswagen Truck and Bus debuts a new Exports Center in Resende

Volkswagen Truck and Bus inaugurated its new Export Center in Resende (RJ) to optimize the shipment of semi-knocked down vehicles (SKD) to three international units. The new area, designed to increase logistical efficiency, manages the operation of SKD kits, whose shipment reached a record last year.

To face the brand's internationalization challenges, Volkswagen Truck and Bus has just opened its new Export Center. Located near the Resende plant (RJ), the space concentrates the entire operation for shipping semi-knocked down (SKD) vehicles, which will be finished in three of the brand's units abroad. Last year, the company achieved the best number in this modality, and the initiative aims to significantly increase operational efficiency and logistical capacity.

According to Adolpho Bastos, Vice President of Production and Logistics at VWTB, the inauguration of this center represents more than a physical expansion: it is a symbol of the commitment to logistical excellence and the strengthening of the company abroad. “We are prepared to serve our customers anywhere in the world with agility and quality. Our teams act in an integrated manner, identifying the demands of the countries where we are present and delivering exactly what the market is looking for,” says the executive.

With more than 3,000 square meters, the new area was designed to optimize the export process of SKD kits, which are parts of the same vehicle sent for final assembly in factories located in other countries such as Argentina, Mexico, and South Africa. “Production in Brazil is carried out based on requests previously made by importers, ensuring that each unit was already commercialized in the destination market even before its manufacture,” explains Marco Macedo, Export and xKD Logistics Supervisor.

After confirmation, orders are scheduled on the VW Truck and Bus assembly line, and each component receives specific identification, which guarantees traceability and organization throughout the production process. At this moment, even the smallest elements necessary for structuring are considered, such as screws, nuts, and clamps, for example, thus ensuring the compliance of the materials used in accordance with the brand's quality parameters. Then, the parts are grouped into kits according to the model specification, packaged, and allocated in containers, which go to the destination country.

"In July 2025, the first export from the new area was made, destined for the Querétaro factory, in Mexico. The operation involved a shipment of 22 units of the Constellation 26.320 model and had the logistical support of partner MTC LOG. This is an important achievement for VWTB, symbolizing the beginning of a new phase of international operations and the desire for expansion,” adds the supervisor.

Investments

As part of the investment, the location was equipped with cutting-edge technology, including machinery, intelligent storage systems, and in full compliance with the standards required by the Federal Revenue Service of Brazil for OEA-certified exporters. Among the equipment, highlights include electric forklifts with lithium batteries, automated machines for product packaging, and sustainability-oriented solutions, such as presence sensors that adjust the intensity of lighting based on environmental occupation.

In 2024, the company registered significant performance with a record number of kits exported and intends to maintain this growth rate. Currently, in addition to Mexico, the manufacturer is qualified to serve the production of the factory in Argentina, as well as orders from associated operations in South Africa and the Philippines, always in accordance with the needs of each segment. This structure reinforces the company's ability to adapt to requirements, guaranteeing fidelity to quality standards and agility in international distribution processes.
