Aboard a VW Constellation, the EmCena Brasil project, a traveling theater caravan, has already passed through more than 600 cities and accumulated three million spectators. Designed for road trips, the truck travels the country transporting what was once a dream: a container adapted for theater shows, circus, music, and art workshops. The project is one of the initiatives supported by Volkswagen Truck and Bus, and its history was linked to the brand long before the sponsorship.
"Through initiatives like EmCena, we have the possibility of offering something very significant for the community. The project has a great scope and a beautiful proposal behind the caravan, sustained with great seriousness and commitment by its creators. Knowing that we represented a means to make it viable even before a formal commitment makes us very proud. Today, as group sponsors, we are a small part of an idea of immeasurable value and great potential. Knowing that one of our trucks is transporting knowledge, culture, and care shows us how our values can resonate in different ways," shares Marco Saltini, Vice President of Institutional Relations at Volkswagen Truck and Bus.
Orlando Moreno and Luciana Marques, creators of the initiative, already presented a series of shows in conventional theaters but sought to go further. Therefore, in 2008, EmCena was born from the desire of two artists to promote cultural democratization, and the Volkswagen truck was responsible for transporting that idea throughout the national territory. The first vehicle purchased by the company was a VW Tractor, and, given the good experience with the model, they invested in a Constellation. The shows have a professional sound and lighting structure, a spacious tent, and seating for the audience, providing comfort and quality for artistic presentations outside conventional theaters.
"We realized that it was possible to bring art to those who normally would not have access and since then we have experienced the reunion of the people with their own culture. At each stop, we see how the public enjoys themselves and is invited to reflect on the importance of being in contact with art. Our repertoire is carefully designed to offer activities for all ages and that the content can enrich them with more curiosity, knowledge, and desire to be in contact with new forms of consuming culture," says Orlando Moreno, general coordinator of the project.
Investment in social actions Volkswagen Truck and Bus is a long-standing partner of the EmCena project. For the year 2025, VWTB is supporting 19 social projects, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility. With actions aimed at health, education, environment, and culture, the assembler has impacted about 100,000 people through social initiatives, a number four times greater than that registered in 2023. Developed in more than 11 Brazilian states, the projects cover five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the company's role as an agent of social transformation.
About EmCena EmCena Brasil is an itinerant cultural project that travels through cities with a breath of charm and exchange. Through an outdoor stage structure, it democratizes access to art and culture, and creates meaningful experiences. It shares a free and plural program, seeking a genuine approximation with the public, bringing smiles where there was previously waiting. It is art that embraces, it is culture that includes, it is the deep Brazil told in scenes that touch the soul. Thus, it continues to consolidate itself as one of the largest and most important cultural dissemination projects in the entire country. True to one of its main objectives, that of bringing the artist to where the people are, which with great determination and sensitivity has kept firm and strong the vocation of being the only and true... "Culture Show near you."
