The internationalization of VWTB is gaining momentum, and the figures for shipments of semi-knocked down (SKD) vehicles for overseas assembly confirm this: the company reached a record in SKD kit exports. In 2024, Volkswagen Truck & Bus recorded the highest number of SKD units in its history, with 2,430 units.
“As a reflection of our international strategy, we have surpassed our results year after year. Brazil remains our largest consumer and therefore our main producer, but we have diversified this positioning. Especially in 2024, the start of our assembly in Argentina was crucial. The country’s demand is strong, and we’ve been gaining momentum,” says Adilson Dezoto, Vice President of Production and Logistics at the company.
Today, in addition to Argentina, VWTB can ship SKD kits for assembly at its plant in Mexico, as well as its partner operations in South Africa and the Philippines, depending on each market’s demand. For this operational expansion, the company is investing in new concepts and extensive team training to ensure it can meet higher volume demands.
In its first production year in Argentina in 2024, the company exceeded expectations. Initially, around 800 units were expected, but Volkswagen Truck & Bus is already celebrating the milestone of the first 1,000 vehicles assembled, with capacity to reach 2,700.
In Argentina, the company manufactures two models from the Delivery family (9.180 and 11.180), two Constellation models (17.280 in rigid and tractor truck versions), and one Volksbus model (15.190 OD). Overall, the brand’s sales in the country grew, and by the end of 2024, the volume tripled compared to 2023.
